The University of South Alabama Archives contains
thousands of late nineteenth and twentieth-century photographs and negatives
pertaining to the Mobile area; public, business, and civic organization
records; and papers of individuals. Among the larger manuscript collections
are those of the Mobile County Circuit Court (ca 1814-1917), the Alabama
Dry Dock and Shipbuilding Company (ca 1919-1982), and the Illinois Central
Gulf Railroad
