78. Samson Babb (Jr.) was born on Jan 23 1786 in (1/29?) Chester Co., PA. He died on Jun 22 1846 in Philadelphia, PA. He has reference number 1-2-1-9-6. He was buried in friends Burying Ground, Philadelphia, PA. Samson Babb was elected to the high office of Sheriff of Chester County, PA in 1819. He became the proprietor of a handsome farm on the Brandywine, and subsequently purchased the Wahington Hotel in West Chester. In 1841 he became overwhelmed with financial difficulties, and the Washington Hotel passed on to John Babb, Assignee. In newspaper clippings about his death there is some difference of opinion , but at age 60 he was fixing a pigeon box on the outside of the 4th story of a warehouse occupied by his son, and he lost his balance and fell to his death.

The kneebuckles of Samsons were later melted and the silver used to make silver serving spoons. These were passed down to Florence, granddaughter of Ida Matilda Babb, and are now in the possession of her son Richard Joseph Scott, Jr. and his wife Nancy, at The Oaks in Montrose, AL. He was married to Charity Grubb Jefferis on Aug 3 1819 in (8/22-23?) (East Fallowfield Township.PA).

79. Charity Grubb Jefferis was born on Jan 25 1801 in near Jefferis Ford, PA. She died on Nov 20 1879 in (11/24?) Montrose, AL. at the home of daughter Caroline in Montrose, AL She was buried in Montrose Cemetery, Montrose, AL. Children were:

i. Ann Eliza(beth) Babb was born on Feb 2 1821 in West Chester, PA (or 1820?). She died on May 28 1872 in Fagg's Manor Presbyterian Cemetery.
ii. Peter Babb was born on Apr 8 1822.
iii. Jefferis Babb was born on Mar 31 1824 in Chester Co., PA. He died on Apr 30 1866 in Yuka, CA (Druggist).
iv. William Babb was born on May 23 1826 in Chester Co., PA. He died on May 17 1868 in Bellvue Presb.Ch., Bellvue, PA.
v. John Hickman Babb was born on Dec 27 1828 in Chester Co., PA. He died on Jun 24 1888.
vi. Thomas Babb was born on Oct 28 1831 in (or 10/28/1841?). He died on Jan 25 1842.

viii. Charles Henry Babb was born on Sep 21 1833 in Parksburg, Chester Co., PA. He died in Montrose, AL. He was buried in National Cemetery, Mobile, AL Section 7, #1875. Civil War Vet; see Babb folder; per FDS Montrose book, page 99.. buried with Masonic and Military honors in the National cemetery in Mobile. ... etc....
ix. Edwin Babb was born on Apr 29 1836 in Chester Co., PA. He died on May 30 1857 in (via Accidental drowning).
x. Caroline Phoebe Babb was born on Oct 8 1838 in (Oct 7, 1837 FB). She died on Jan 30 1913 in Montrose, Baldwin Co., AL. She was buried in Montrose Cemetery, Montrose, AL.
